Megs Came to Town

This past weekend Megan (Jon's sister) who personally I am a big fan of came to visit us. Jon was in school Friday so Megan and I filled our day with shopping, lunching, and lots of chatting.

Saturday we headed downtown for Voodoo Doughnuts (a Portland hot spot, and must do). Voodoo is lets just say an experience. They have all sorts of funky doughnuts; whatever you can think of is pretty much on or in a doughnut. Its a fun little place!

Then we headed to the street market for some ultimate people watching and entertainment. The highlight for us was a trash can drummer...he was amazing. We could have watched him all day long! It was true talent at its finest.

The day was completed with a tour of the dental school. I must admit I was a little freaked out the entire time...usually I'm not a wuss..but Ill just blame it on the pregnancy. The combination of an empty building, dark halls, lots of bones EVERYWHERE, and rooms filled with cadavers was not on my top ten list for the day. But I do love seeing the husband so passionate and excited about his schooling and future profession, so it was worth being creeped out.

Our weekend wasn't super wild but we loved having Megs here and cant wait for her to come back soon!

Royal Rosarian Garden

A Portland favorite and a new fave of ours for sure; the Rose Gardens were the perfect spot for a sunday afternoon stroll a few weeks ago. We are constantly amazed with how green and luscious Portland is everywhere we go. The gardens just added to our list of beautiful finds. Jon and I were both in awe over how many colors, shapes, and sizes of roses there were. The best part? They are just one exit from our house. We are loving exploring Portland and feel that we haven't even made a dent in the city yet..our list of to do's is definitely a long one.

Tahoe Baby Shower

While vacationing in Lake Tahoe for our annual family get away I was surprised with an amazing baby shower! My sister in law had planned a perfect evening complete with an adorable and delish cake made my aunt Suzy (Suzadaisy Cakes), baby girl cake pops, presents, games and more treats. It was so fun to get to celebrate this little girl coming into my life with the women who mean so much to me! I cannot thank them enough for the fun evening and adorable gifts.

Our Baby Girl

Photobucket

These pictures were from our last ultra sound on July 6th. Jon and I went in to the appointment beyond excited to find out if our little one would be a boy or a girl. Jon's vote was on a boy and mine was on girl..mothers instinct? Not really I just like girly things...a little too much. She was rather shy and I'd like to think modest, she did not want to display herself to us. Finally the nurse had a clear view and announced to us that we were having a little girl, of course we were both in tears. Most importantly she is a healthy little girl and that she is growing and developing right on track! We left the office and headed to the mall (surprised?)...so relieved that our little baby was no longer going to be referred to as baby but as her, she, or baby girl.

So here you go...a little glimpse of her tiny leggy and toes...and her cute side profile with her hand up by her face. Quite adorable I must say.

alive

First let me begin by saying that we are alive.

So where have we been? Well that's another story. We left Texas on July 13th and headed back to Utah. From there we spend a fabulous week at Tahoe boating, lounging, and eating delicious food with my family. Then we flew back to Utah loaded our Uhaul and voyaged to Oregon...our new state of residence. We somewhat moved in...as moved in as one can be in 48 hours.... then got on the road again. We spent a week in Bonners Ferry visiting Jon's fam which was way fun. (I promise more detailed posts will be coming your way soon...equipped with photos and all). So now we are back in Portland playing catch up and getting settled before Jon starts school on MONDAY. Its been quite the adventure and lets just say I cannot wait to stay put for a while and make Portland our new home. And of course get ready for baby GIRL to be here! oh ya PS its a girl :)

Monkeys Cuddle

I cannot honestly explain why but over the past few years I have grown more and more obsessed with animals...from animal planet to shark week I cant get enough. Not to the point that I like want to be a zoo keeper or rescue 25 animals, just to the point that I like to look at them and observe. Pretty fascinating actually. Anyways, ever since we got to Texas and I heard that they had an awesome zoo close by I have been begging Jon to take me...well he finally did. It was just as magical as I had imagined it would be. Yes a little hot, but me and the bump survived in the shaded areas with lots of water. Here are some of the highlights.

We decided that if we had to chose we would for sure be some sort of monkey. Like really? How tough can it be? Plus they cuddle with each other....a huge plus.
