Day 2: On the Counter

Day 2 – A photo of something you ate today

Well I’d have to say that the best meal of today was dinner. On the menu tonight was chicken roulades, baby potatoes, and green beans sautéed in garlic. DE-LISH! Most chicken roulade recipes include filling the chicken with ham and swiss but I usually do spinach and whatever cheese I have on hand; this time it was mozzarella.

Cooking for me is relaxing. It takes me back to sitting on the counter as a little girl watching my mom cook and trying to help whenever I could. I can’t thank her enough for taking the time to teach me how to cook, because I’m sure sometimes it would have been much easier to have me out of the kitchen, not sticking my fingers in everything and putting tablespoons in rather than teaspoons. Thanks mom for giving me a love for cooking.

There’s nothing better than making dinner with a little music on in the background; it’s a great day to wind down the day.

Day 1: Street Corner

Day 1 – A photo of yourself and a description of how your day was.

My day so far….Well Tuesdays and Thursdays I don’t have classes so it’s my day of freedom. The day started around 9:30 when I decided that it would probably be a good time to get out of bed. I checked my phone and was greeted by a lovie good morning text from the husband…he’s good like that.

We are currently trying to sell my car so some interested buyers asked us to bring it by a friend’s mechanic shop; crossing my fingers nothing was wrong I willing brought it in. Jon and I had planned to go to lunch while it was in the shop but Jon wasn’t out of class yet. Rather than staying at the creepy mechanic shop or standing on the corner like a you know what I decided to walk to the nearest grocery store. Let’s just say it was a little colder and further than I thought, but I made it alive and got a little exercise in. Jon picked me up and we lunched. I love “lunching” as I like to call it. It’s a great time to take a break from the day enjoy a nice bite to eat and good conversation. Since I’m sick of the lack of sunshine in my life I went and got a much needed tan and ran a few errands.

So that’s where I’m at, not too exciting but it has been relaxing at least!

Day one down 29 more to go!

He's All Mine

The highlights of Valentines Day....
*It was an all weekend affair
*Getting to spend all day from start to finish with the most amazing man in the world
*Making breakfast together...heart shaped banana pancakes :)
*Having a day planned for me with all of my favorite things; my husband, shopping, lunching, surprises, chocolate fondue, a bubble bath and a massage
*Staying up late and knowing you can sleep in the next day
.....everything about it was blissful

I'm usually not a huge fan of valentines day. I feel that one should show love year round and not need a commercial holiday to say I love you. I don't like boxes of waxy chocolates or bears that say I love you...But I do love time together, love notes, and to be shown I'm cared about. Which my amazing husband always makes sure to do. Since we celebrated our romance on the weekend we spent actual valentines night with our friends eating chocolate covered strawberries sipping cider and watching the Bachelor (my obsession). It was a fun night, I am so thankful for fun friends, but most importantly I'm so thankful I met and married the man of my dreams.

Morning Mess

Yesterday was one of those days where I snoozed my alarm clock to the point that it shuts off, I feared getting out of bed, I hated all my clothes, I burnt my breakfast…and the list goes on. I made it out the door and up to campus at a reasonable hour to make it to my 9:00 class. However things took a turn for the worse when I was rushing down the hill. My feet slipped out from beneath me and I landed catching myself with my knees and palms. I quickly got up grabbed my bag and brushed it off. Realizing when I got up that the three guys in front of me had turned around, looked and kept walking. Real nice huh? I made it into the building with ice burnt palms and immediately texted the hubby for a sympathy card.

I sat in class day dreaming thinking what if I would have broken a bone, and those guys just kept walking? Dramatic, I know.

Then it hit me... I can’t rely on others to pick me up and make sure I’m ok all the time. I lived, it wasn’t a big deal just another little bump in my day. But sometimes it’s these simple little experiences that make me see more of the big picture. MIND OVER MATTER. I thought today is a great day. I have a wonderful life. I am blessed in so many ways. Who cares how the day started out?! I can make eachday whatever kind of day I want. I had lunch with my amazing husband followed by snuggling on the couch.

What could be any better than that?

not so neutral

So I decided that the office upstairs needed to be finished finally. It just needed some final touches and girly decor. I had bought a desk almost a year ago and redid it; painted it black and made it distressed, it was a fun project. So a few weekends ago while in Boise visiting my mom I found the perfect kelly green framed corkboard and fell in love.. thats when the girliness began. I decided this would be my own little workspace. I found this amazing thrifted lamp base (pottery barn copy) and dolled up an also thrifted lamp shade; turned out bright and funky, I love it...heres the before and the finished product!

The decor in the rest of my house is very neutral with hints of color throughout, and the dabs of color are still pretty natural colors...it was time for some brightness!! I love my little girly getaway :)

New Found Beauty

A few sundays Jon and I went for a litte drive; we ended up by the Snake River surrounded by beautiful trees and the ice capped river. I have a hard time finding the beauty of snow but at this moment in time I had no trouble at all. For that few freezing minutes I felt away from the world. Its times like these that make me realize I might actually miss Rexburg.

I loved every second of it.
