Moving and Vacationing

I know its no excuse but this past week/weekend has been insane. We have moved into a new house (explanation coming later) and this weekend were gone vacationing in Sundance, UT. (post on the beautiful weekend coming soon) Cant complain about that one. So to say the least I'm a little behind. But here it goes, a little game of catch up.

Day 8A song to match your mood.

Sade- By Your Side

If you haven’t heard of her and listened to her music it’s a must. She has an absolutely beautiful voice that just soothes you!

Day 9A photo of the item you last purchased.

The last item that I purchased was the best Blush in the entire world.

Bare Minerals: Rose Radiance

Day 10A photo of your favorite place to eat.

This is a tough one because my favorite place in the world to eat would be Castro Street in Mountain View California where I’m from. The street is lined with restaurants of every kind; whatever you want it’s there! My favorite restaurants on the street are Sumo Sushi, Pasta?, and 3TA. Thinking about it makes me hungry and definitely makes me miss home.

Day 11 What’s in your makeup bag?

(not my actual picture)

TOO MUCH!! A few of the necessities would be…Mary Kay Age Fighting Moisturizer, Mac Studio Fix Foundation, Bare Minerals blush, Mascara, powder eyeliner, eye shadow palette, chap stick, lip gloss and lots of bobbi pins.

Day 12A photograph of the town you live in.

Rexburg? Really? The town..not so exciting, the temple…beautiful.

It feels good to be up to date!

InStyle Inspired

After purchasing the March 500 yes 500 page issue I began drafting my wish list and must haves for spring. I took a few notes and came up with a little list to guide my shopping.

1. COLOR and lots of it; I’m guilty of loving muted colors and black & white which is so boring, I know! So I am making an effort to put together things with bright colors this spring.

2. Florals; I am seeing them every where and the patterns are too cute.

3. Lace; which I love! Totally feminine and great to mix in for all occasions.

4. Men’s Wear; Blazers, trousers, and crisp dress shirts.

5. Heels, HIGH heels; I am also guilty of loving flats. I buy heels and don’t wear them. So I have set a goal to wear heels A LOT this spring and summer….which leads into #1 on my wish list.

Now if this snow would just hurry up and melt life would be great! Oh and of course…Day 7!

Day 7 – Your dream wedding

My dream wedding took place on August 22, 2009

Here are a few little tid bits about the big day; The ceremony took place in the Oakland California Latter Day Saint Temple, the celebration was held at a golf course reception center in Mountain View, California, the colors were bright pink and green, there were four bridesmaids, four groomsmen, and four beautiful flower girls… everything turned out perfect and just as I had imagined it! I could go on and on for hours about all the details but instead I thought I’d just post a few snapshots from the big day.

Day 6: Happy Feet

Day 6 – A photo of an animal you’d love to keep as a pet.

Growing up I had a yellow lab named Jake; he was the best dog in the entire world. Once we didn’t have Jake I went years without a dog and every year after that the first thing on my Christmas list was a puppy. Well last year Jon made that come true, not for Christmas just because. We brought our Maltese/Shih-tzu Bentley home and I finally had a puppy again. So that pet can be checked off my list.

But if it wasn’t Bentley I think I’d have a Penguin. Ever since I was little I’ve been obsessed. From Discovery Channel shows to Happy Feet I’ve been fascinated with them and just think they are adorable. Plus they always look like they are having so much fun. A few years back while on vaca with my mom in Hawaii I made some little Penguin friends. Our hotel courtyard had penguins roaming in the center; I was tempted everyday to take oneJ! So that’s that I would love to have a penguin as a pet, maybe someday….

Days 4 and 5: Lets Combine

Day 4 – Your favorite photograph of your best friend.

Yes I’m in it too, but I just love this picture of him.

He looks so handsome and happy.

It was taken on a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming with our friends the Clift’s.

Day 5 – A photo of yourself two years ago.

This picture was taken two years ago on this exact weekend in Island Park. It is so beautiful up there; tree covered mountains, a beautiful river, and at this time of year snow everywhere.

Day 3: So Not My Style

Day 3 – Your idea of the perfect first date

Hmm the perfect first date…that’s a good one because I’ve concluded that first dates are a little awkward no matter who the date is with. But if I could go back and pick any first date it would go a little something like this.

Obviously I would be going out with Jon because without him it clearly wouldn’t be perfect. I feel that dinner (although it may be typical) is a good first date. It gives you a chance to talk and get to know each other and from there if all goes well you can continue on with the date, and if not….just end it right then and there. After the meal though of course. A huge thing for me though is thought and effort. Hopefully he picked a restaurant with me in mind, not an all you can eat steakhouse. (I’m not a big red meat eater) If dinner went well maybe a walk somewhere nice; a park, along the beach, you get the picture. Just simple. Nothing too crazy just a chance to see if you hit it off or not. Now the second date…that’s another story, he better be pulling out the big guns. I’m kidding…sort of.

Now time for a funny little story of what I consider Jon and I’s first date, which isn’t exactly what’s described above. We had met and hung out casually a few times before our first “date”. It was a Friday night and he had asked me if I wanted to go out that night….Before I knew it we were at this park by the river with a huge group of people doing what is referred to as…The Gallon Challenge. Ok pause, 100% not my style and really….that’s what we’re doing? But whatever something about him kept me interested and I went along and I even attempted the challenge. So here’s what in entails; you have 1 hour to drink a whole gallon of 2% milk (I cheated and did 1%). Well here’s the problem milk curdles in your stomach….long story short we both ended up throwing up on the first date…sooo NOT romantic. So what kept me around? Well the second date did.

The second date he took me out to a mountain known as “R” mountain. He had packed a picnic of all of my favorite lunch/snack things; a turkey sandwich, cheezits, grapes, Black Forest gummy bears, and vitamin water all in a cute little basket. We walked up the trail a ways and found a spot overlooking the valley. We sat in peace on a blanket just us two, enjoying one another’s company over a cute picnic lunch. And many dates such as these followed. So the first date was not a good indicator of what was to come. Good thing I didn’t bail after the date #1 and that he learned quickly what I liked!

Day 2: On the Counter

Day 2 – A photo of something you ate today

Well I’d have to say that the best meal of today was dinner. On the menu tonight was chicken roulades, baby potatoes, and green beans sautéed in garlic. DE-LISH! Most chicken roulade recipes include filling the chicken with ham and swiss but I usually do spinach and whatever cheese I have on hand; this time it was mozzarella.

Cooking for me is relaxing. It takes me back to sitting on the counter as a little girl watching my mom cook and trying to help whenever I could. I can’t thank her enough for taking the time to teach me how to cook, because I’m sure sometimes it would have been much easier to have me out of the kitchen, not sticking my fingers in everything and putting tablespoons in rather than teaspoons. Thanks mom for giving me a love for cooking.

There’s nothing better than making dinner with a little music on in the background; it’s a great day to wind down the day.

Day 1: Street Corner

Day 1 – A photo of yourself and a description of how your day was.

My day so far….Well Tuesdays and Thursdays I don’t have classes so it’s my day of freedom. The day started around 9:30 when I decided that it would probably be a good time to get out of bed. I checked my phone and was greeted by a lovie good morning text from the husband…he’s good like that.

We are currently trying to sell my car so some interested buyers asked us to bring it by a friend’s mechanic shop; crossing my fingers nothing was wrong I willing brought it in. Jon and I had planned to go to lunch while it was in the shop but Jon wasn’t out of class yet. Rather than staying at the creepy mechanic shop or standing on the corner like a you know what I decided to walk to the nearest grocery store. Let’s just say it was a little colder and further than I thought, but I made it alive and got a little exercise in. Jon picked me up and we lunched. I love “lunching” as I like to call it. It’s a great time to take a break from the day enjoy a nice bite to eat and good conversation. Since I’m sick of the lack of sunshine in my life I went and got a much needed tan and ran a few errands.

So that’s where I’m at, not too exciting but it has been relaxing at least!

He's All Mine

The highlights of Valentines Day....
*It was an all weekend affair
*Getting to spend all day from start to finish with the most amazing man in the world
*Making breakfast together...heart shaped banana pancakes :)
*Having a day planned for me with all of my favorite things; my husband, shopping, lunching, surprises, chocolate fondue, a bubble bath and a massage
*Staying up late and knowing you can sleep in the next day
.....everything about it was blissful

I'm usually not a huge fan of valentines day. I feel that one should show love year round and not need a commercial holiday to say I love you. I don't like boxes of waxy chocolates or bears that say I love you...But I do love time together, love notes, and to be shown I'm cared about. Which my amazing husband always makes sure to do. Since we celebrated our romance on the weekend we spent actual valentines night with our friends eating chocolate covered strawberries sipping cider and watching the Bachelor (my obsession). It was a fun night, I am so thankful for fun friends, but most importantly I'm so thankful I met and married the man of my dreams.
